The book is covered in one of the original 1950s  ‘Sylvia’ papers. These were commissioned by bookbinder John Mason from young artists at the Leicester College of Art, to provide a more lively covering material than the plain covers that were common during the interwar years, and to do what the Curwen Press papers had done in an earlier era.  ‘They reflect the contemporary spirit in design; their colours are generally good, clean and light-hearted,’  wrote Kenneth Holmes in Design magazine at the time.
