WIDE SKETCHBOOK 28 X 15 - ELIZABETH FRIEDLANDER (ORANGE FLOWER)
Wide sketchbook with 64 sides of 200 gsm cartridge.
Covers are a design by Elizabeth Friedlander (1903-1984), a gifted designer who came to the UK as a refugee from Nazi Germany, and among her wide-ranging design work and calligraphy, she became known for the patterns created for the Curwen Press and for Penguin Books, including a number of the Penguin Music Scores.
There is an extensive appreciation of her life and work in New Borders, by Pauline Drucker, published by the Incline press in 1988.
This orange flower design is one of the patterns created for the Curwen Press and the paper used here is from the old C20th stock, now out of print for many years.
