The cover is a textile design by William Kilburn (1745-1818). Kilburn was a botanical illustrator and textile designer born in Dublin in 1745. He became one of the most famous designers of block-printed cottons in the 18th century, and created exquisitely detailed designs featuring superbly realised flowers and plants. This design is in the collection of the Vicotria and Albert museum.
